Firstly, may I wish you all a happy and prosperous 2006.
I have been offered a set of 4 new 16" MB alloys (taken from a 2005 W203 C Class) fitted with brand new Michelin Pilot Primacy tyres - 225/50 R16 92V. The offset of these wheels is ET31. The original 15" wheels, and the 15" AMG type II's currently fitted are ET37. Unfortunately, I don't know the wheel style but there are 9 equi-spaced spokes with slight indentations running the length of each.
I have two questions which hopefully you knowledgeable folks may be able to answer; the first is what effect the offset will have, and secondly, will there be any other problems to be aware of, e.g. will the ABS/ESP sensors work correctly? I'm sure I have read on here previously that oversize wheels can sometimes create false readings with some of the electronic wheel monitoring systems.
For those of you that may be interested, why the change? Because of the larger size front brake caliper used on the W202 C240 (& C280) models, I had to use front spacers when I fitted the AMG's to allow the wheels sufficient clearance, and to be honest I am totally fed up with incurable wheel imbalance, despite having all wheels re-balanced about 4/5 times . So, assuming the 16" will fit (maybe I should have bought 16" wheels the first time around), you may see 5 nearly new (i.e. pristine) AMG's up for sale on here soon!!
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your valuable contributions.
