Guys,

Hopefully someone can advise me before i buy a set of wheels for my 1996 440 CL (C140).

The wheels are 17" AMG with an ET of 35 and 8.5J rim width.

I have read the chart (thanks to poster), the Merc and AMG wheels listed have a ET47 whereas the Carlsson wheels have a ET35.

Couple of questions, will the wheels i want to buy fit my vechicle? I love the ride of the car, will changing the wheels add looks but reduce stability etc? Lastly, is a 17" rim going to look balanced with the rest of the car?

My thanks to anyone who can help

I am far from a wheel expert but I think that a 17" will look a little lost on a 140. Thats just my opinion.

Normally the ET for that width wheel is ET44 for a S Class. !7" wheels will look odd unless they look standard.

Ideally you want 18" wheels, 19" if you want to look bling.

As you say hte Carlsson wheels are 35 for that size of wheel

these are the same as for a 129 I think the size is OK the wheel will be 10mm further out than the 45

thanks, great advice. So as long as i get wheels with an ET of circa 45 with an 18" rim i should be ok....
