190 Cosworth project

Hmm - parked up 2 years ago (for no apparant reason...) and selling it secretly as a non-runner, purely due to it being standing for so long. Won't allow any inspection/investigation as far as the engine goes...

I'd tread very carefully knowing how fragile 2.3-16 timing chains are.

Might be ok for parts or repairs, but you could be also in for an expensive rebuild on top of the restoration costs. You're looking at about £2-3k for an engine overhaul if needed.

That DTM exhaust would put me off for a start , there's only a certain type of person that puts those on ...

What about the 'Ford' seats!

Tee Hee ...

Bet it's screwed and thats why he doesn't want anyone to attempt starting it 'unless they do it properly' and he hasn't got time for that ...

How long would it take ? tops ? a day ?

So he's willing to take a four grand hit because he can't be bothered to spend a day doing a bit of work ..... or has it had it ? ;)

Wish i earned four grand a day ...

To be honest Howard, that's my gut feeling. It would sell far, far better as a running concern - even if he can't be bothered to get it running, he seems very much 'on the back foot' towards anyone who might, or might have an idea why it's not running.

I guess £995 is no money at all for one of these, even as a breaker, but he'd be much better being up front with it as to why it was parked up, and maybe why it isn't running.

I might give him a ring out of interest.

He's revised the description, I can't find the bit about the Ford seats any more. I don't think he knows much about MB Cosworths and confuses them with Ford Cosworths.

The leather seats are In good condition, but the front seats are the ford cosworth items.

You would think that if he could get it running he would, why sell a dead car?

Maybe:
a) He's not mechanically minded and hence is thinking it may be a big job
b) He knows what's wrong, it's a big and expensive fix and so is getting rid
or
c) He can't be bothered to get it fixed and is getting rid

"really dont have the time to drain old petrol down re- fill with new fuel put a battery on and drain down and pour the oil back through the engine prior to trying to start her up."

A fresh battery is all that's needed to get it going...

"I will not entertain anybody that just wants to try and get this running without doing it properly prior to buying as damage could occur to the engine due to the time stood"

Hmmm....

He bought a new headlamp for it in june, so has put some time into it. Note his username 'Dieselcentre'.
Sounds like a mechanical person to me.

He does say
The engine and drivetrain were all good when last used. So technically if it was duff a buyer could sue him.

Isn't that subjective as ebay rules and real laws are separate aren't they?

Real laws always override ebay laws.

If a buyer buys by the adverts description then they should expect that with a change of oil, petrol and a battery the thing should be fine...

Advert removed.
