Not on ebay, on Auto Trader:

Auto Trader UK - MERCEDES-BENZ 190 190E 2.6 4dr Auto Saloon

Interesting that it's displaying an R Registration (indicating 1997 / 1998). RAC Vehicle Check confirms the reg is indeed on a Mercedes 190E, although it definitely looks like an earlier 190 (e.g. doesn't have the airbag from the 1992+ cars).

I can only assume it was new and un-registered until 1998, or perhaps an import (although they are supposed to get age related plates!)

I've seen this car in the flesh. :)

Saw it a few months back parked in Emsworth on the south coast.

As you say, it's a pre-facelift model, so even stranger - must have been late registered by about 10+ years!

Not a bad price if it's a tidy 2.6 with leather IMHO. And rare on an 'R' plate ;)

Thanks Will, it does seem to look pretty decent, although I'd much prefer a facelift model. Although having said that it does seem pretty decent value :D

I agree - the facelift models look a bit fresher. But for £999 (offer £700/800?) it could be a nice car for someone still :)

One last thing - it does appear to be riding pretty high - perhaps an unusual spec (imported?) Might just be the photo, I can't remember noticing that when I saw it (the pre-facelift ones do look a bit higher as they don't have the plastic sill covers)

Yes, I've noticed that too, as you say the facelift models appear to ride lower. Although as you say, for £800ish it could make a decent car, although I think I'll give it a miss.

Riding high i thought it was a g wagen at first:D.
You sure its not one of them indian spec/taxi jobs.

Lyna;;

possible import??

infact now i looked at it i think it is an import and is owned by a member over at mercedes190.co.uk if my memory serves me (usualy doesnt so dont hold me to it)

Hi Chris,

Nope - it's not owned by anyone on there, but I did post about it over there when someone else noticed it for sale ;)

Will

ahh i remmber someone at a meet having a prefacelift in that same colour with those wheels

It will be an import, thats the only way it can have a 97/98 plate.

Many of the overseas spec. cars had different suspension (more ground clearance). Indian import, I would guess.

It'll be quite suited to our roads now then. The potholes around here are horrific.
