Hi guys,

Last year I owned a gorgeous 97 C36 but at the time I had to sell. I am desperate to get another merc though I dont have the same budget I did last year :(

Been on the look out for a really nice clean 190E or a W124. But I am shocked at the prices of W124's. A few years back I had a 300CE, which judging from the kind of prices they are commanding now I really should have kept hold of it:crazy:

I have spotted this cosworth which isnt to far from me, but my main query is the miles. What kind of problems do the 2.5 16vs have? Are 190E's prone to any common fualts other than rust?:D Thanks for any help!

Other than the standard 190 problems I would say the engine timing gear- cams, followers, timing chains, tensioners, guides,-- these engines are built to rev - early complex fabricated exhaust manifolds tend to crack- rear self levelling suspension should work-trivial but the auxiliary instruments should all work also.

The exhaust manifolds on the 2.5s were strengthened, only the 2.3 had the problem with cracking. I'd want to see evidence of a top-end rebuild as grober has said. I sold mine with 130K miles on it and it was solid. Best built car I ever had.
