190e Cosworth Merecedes 2.5 16v

Being a local man it sounds like you've volunteered yourself to view the car for the forum's benefit :)

ps. ideal car for a Wheeler Dealer project. Buy for £1-2k, spend £2k, sell for £5k..............just don't count the hours

You can see a chavved up Corsa in one of the pictures...Not a good sign :D

Wonder how much he wants for it? It looks like it's well worth saving. Photos not great but the mileage could well be genuine, looking at the seats etc.

If the asking price is not silly, allow some cash to make it perfect and it could be a great car

low miles,no mots, parked for 5 yrs,not straight forward to resell as this would make many people cautious

Easier next time round though once a bit of running history has been built back up. At this age cars are all about condition, not paper.

As above :thumb:

I wouldn't pay over the odds for a rough/rusty 75k miler than ran like a bag of bolts, but if it was in good condition and ran sweet it's got to be worth easily £5-10k+.

The boot badges are in the wrong spot, the headlamp wipers are broken/incorrectly adjusted and it's had aftermarket front corner lenses fitted but otherwise looks like a clean example and it's in a good colour for a 2.5-16 (not pink!)

Not sure what UK reg prefix it would be given, but it's a 1992 car with the later steering wheel in Astral silver, a potentially great car to be saved

It would either be a late J plate or early K plate.

I think it looks rather tidy and honest from the photographs and echo Wills comments. If it is as described and at sensible money it's worth buying.

Cars are taken off the road for lots of reasons, the one I bought last year was just laid up with another one by the original owner. The other one had 17k miles, only needed an exhaust and is one of only 9 in the UK.
I'm getting two more one of which was just laid up as another car was bought, and the other for a head gasket problem the owner didn't want to pay to fix.

+1 With Will, it's worth having a good root around to see if the old tin worm has got hold, however, if it's mainly cosmetic and there aren't too many mechanical issues (will obviously need a full service and overhaul of the brakes) then it could be a bargain.

Didn't Captain Slow use one of those in a Top Gear challenge :D

He wants £2500 for it and supposedly had someone coming to look at it today.

Not sure what the wheeler dealer thing was all about.....
Buy car to sell on and make a profit.
Spend (in total) £3585.
Sell car for £3500.

Have I missed something?

Only that it's just a TV show made for entertainment :)

Most cars featured only make a modest profit, disregarding the DIY time. I still enjoy watching it for the general interest in the cars they show.

Would this not be the case for every car ? or am i missing something

"once a bit of running history has been built back up???" if it does not matter ?? as you said
"At this age cars are all about condition, not paper

So what i said was right,it does make people cautious,
