1993 MERCEDES C250 D rev counter

just bought the above car but the rev counter dosen,t work,
befor i start messing ,anyone with any ideas?

Have you driven it far? Mine used to go on strike in very cold weather too. My speedo never liked getting up early in the morning either. If it has been stood for a while it could "work" after the car has got shut of any dampness in it. Sounds daft but it is what mine was like.
