1994 MERCEDES 320 CE CABRIOLET E320 CONVERTIBLE W124 - Possible Cheapie?

At least for one of those it's hardly rusty!

Wrong early rear light clusters.... should be the half smoked ones for a facelift car....

Maybe rear hit and repaired with the cheapest parts available perhaps?

i bet its the other way round

updated bonnet and original rear and side lights, and no accident damage.

I am strangely draw towards Cabriolets (I need one for a full house!!) This is on my watch list and facelift or not. Well you never just know.
I would be OK (but only OK) with a 220 but the 320 is the peach.

Out of interest, when did the cabs (or other 124s) get dual airbags? I know some of the later W124s did, but this still has the original style glovebox on the passenger side.

Never seen a cab or any W124 for that matter thats on a 94/L (April 94 to be exact), that was a pre facelift car....

Have to agree that it looks like a facelift car that has the wrong rear end lights and lower bumper on it. Surprising really as the brakes on a W124 cab are not it's best feature so if it has been tail ended then the other driver probably was asleep.

It is a pre-facelift car as a facelift car would have the roller cubby box between the seats instead of a glovebox where the passenger airbag would be.
From memory facelift cars started coming through autumn 94.

Shouldn't the bumper insert also be painted?

I had an E320 estate built for me in 1994 - was delivered in May 1994 - built in April and it was facelifted so I think your memory is perhaps a year out in that facelift cars were produced for the 1994 model year which started production in September 1993.

The steering wheel appears to be a face lift one too. Never mind above no pax airbag, how about no roof if you are talking safety:eek:

Has anyone HPI'd it to see if it has any "history"

There was a short time when some partial facelift models were produced. Cant remember exactly but they had some features of both pre and post facelift. It might be one of these.

As I have noted earlier the rear bumper and cladding is not correct in that it belongs to a pre-facelift car as do the rear tailights. If you look closely at the photos, the drivers side of the rear bumper rail cover is damaged and will need replacing/repairing. It would have been nice to have a photo of the engine bay as this often shows up other things on cars like this.

Just looking at the bid history of the 3 bidders on there.

The first bidder who is now the top bidder has no experience of Mercedes stuff on ebay (it would appear) The two middle bidders appear to have some knowledge of Mercedes stuff.
I shall watch this to the end and see who wins and what there history is.

From the input of all the posts on here it would appear to be a bit of a mishmash of a car.
This I find is what makes the forum so interesting and informative.
