Hi All,

I've searched, but no luck

Can anyone tell me, or point me in the direction of, info leading to a note of what ICE was available in w124 and 126 models in 1995?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Paul

Just had a flick through the '95 124 brochure and there is no mention anywhere of stereo equipment.

There is one photo I can just about make out a small part of a becker. Where they dealer fit like on BMW at the time?

Thanks.

Is that the new style, all black plastic Becker?

I've a Mexico 2000 and Silverstone Changer from an S 1993 and wondered if it was in the 1995's, though I think it would have ended by then.

I'm wondering what to put into a 124 estate, 1995.

Cheers

From what I can see the Becker is all black.

I like the Mexico 2000, does your car have the correct plug on the wiring?
At one stage I was going to get a Mex for my 126 as I think they look great. But my (1991) 126 has the ISO plugs, so stuck with the Original Blaupunkt (removable security card type)
I think by 1995 things would probably look a little more modern, something like the Blaupunkt Malaga RCR 127 would be about right in age and looks!

Hi,

Yes, I think the super quality of the early 90's 126's would have gone by '95.

I've been saving the Becker for the right car, I had the same one in a couple of 140's I had years ago, the sound was rich and smooth, the controls and look are superb.

I don't know if I want it in the estate, I think it'll go in the 126, but I wasn't aware of a plug problem. Is my 1990 incompatible? Is there a way round?

I'm looking at some early nineties Bp's which I know aren't correct, but are more decent than the mid-nineties flimsy stuff.

It all went bad from about 1994!

I have the 1995 124 price list which includes the factory fit audio options. Unfortunately its in the car which this week is away being serviced, MOT and a few other jobs done. Once its back I will post what it says. I suspect most would have been dealer fit. The factory prices are seriously scary.
Ours has a Becker Cascade which is a bit more modern than you are aiming for but it suits the 124 and sounds superb - well at least for a 124.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I have a cascade in an old camper van and the sound is excellent, as you say.

The Siverstone 10 changer is like a piece of luggage in itself, and the smaller one for the cascade will still need stashing so I think I'll go with a radio only option from your list.

Cheers,

Paul

I wouldn't say there is a plug problem as such, just they are individual to old Beckers. If that is what you want in your car and it doesn't have the correct plugs I'm sure it wont be too difficult to make the wiring fit the head unit. (you would need to know what pins do what with regards to the head unit)

I'm in the process of collecting components for a period correct(ish) stereo upgrade at the moment:D
Trying to decide between a top end Sony XR, a Pioneer Corrozzeria or a Nakamichi head unit at the moment!

ive just fitted an alpine ida into my clk and it doesnt sound half as good as the original audio10.only changed it because audio 10 didnt play copy cds and no usb.

I think you need one of these.

If you contact these guys, they are very knowledgable about all things MB auto sound.

Becker Autosound Website

I fitted a Becker very recently into my 1990 190 2.5 16 - the wiring was old plugs but it didn't take a great amount of time to create a new ISO loom, there was a very useful guide on the 190 website. It really works absolutely fine and looks ideal - in my case a Grand Prix.

A lot of cars also came with Blaupunkts, which are fine of that period, even though I prefer the sound of a Becker.

Thanks for the image, Charles. That Becker sits well, it's brought my thinking forward a generation, I think I'll put the Cascade in if I can figure out where to put the changer.

Cheers,

Paul

You can substitute the changer for an iPod cable and hide it in the centre storage box. Thats what I have done and it works very nicely. (still not got the 124 back so no brochure details yet)

Well finally picked it up and here is what is in the price list for factory fit audio. Not very informative but the prices are interesting.
Radio cassette "classic" £608.24
Radio cassette "special" with RDS £801.76
Radio cassette "exquisit" with RDS £1161.18
All include 4 speakers and electric aerial

Boot mounted 6 CD changer £576.53 (only with special or exquisit though)
