Hello all,

I'm looking for a late model 1998 (R) - 1999 (T) post facelift long wheel base S320.

The ideal car would have:

- Less than 90k on the clock with FSH (not necessarily 100% dealership)
- Some MOT and Tax (so I can drive it away!)

- All electrics must work
- No previous accident damage (the odd scratch here and there is OK)
- Working air-con
- Original factory condition. No cars with spoilers or 22" chrome wheels!

If you have a Business Edition (one with a single rear table and transmission tunnel storage binnacle) then that would be the perfect car. I'm really looking for one of these, but will seriously consider a standard non-Business Edition S320L.

Please PM me if you have a W140 that you want to part with. I'm a private buyer.
PS - Please don't offer me an S280, S500, S600 or CL Coupe. I might be interested in a S420L if the price is right. Not interested in W220 model either.

I've got that exact car (not for sale, just got it 2 months ago!) and let me warn you - fuel consumption is beyond excessive! I would also recommend yourefine your search to those with digital climate control and heated front seats - really it's worth it. But fuel consumption - you'll be refuelling every other or every third day if you put £20 in each time (well, I am, with local driving only!)

Hi Neilz,

Thanks for the advice. I do a lot of commuting by public transport and hardly use my cars. I think my total mileage was just over 1000 last year, so fuel consumption is not an issue.

Funnily enough I was the one who was going to buy your exact car from that garage, but then had a last minute change of mind. Hope you are enjoying, it as was probably one of the cleanest I had seen in a long time.

Thanks UCR, already seen those cars, not quite "the one" for me.

Hi.
Is it possible to ask how much did you have to paid for the car?

I paid £1200 in the end! The front bumper had had a very poor respray and there's a sharp dent above the grille. I'm going to try and find out if it's a cat C or D or something like that because it does look like the front end was repaired and the price was very good. The soft closing pumps are both gone, as is the locking pump. The central vent doesn't work. And there are countless touched up stone chips. So it wasn't as clean as it could be by any means - but, no rust.

I'd recommend you pay that bit extra for one where all/most of the electrics work (big bill heading my way!). Mileage shouldn't matter.

And if you want to see how it looks now, here's my album: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/members/neilz-albums-my-new-w140-s320l.html very recent photos on there, colour looks so different (nicer!) from when I got it as I polished the paint and deep cleansed it. Just need to get those electrics done, and replace one barely legal tyre.

Yes, that,s another thing, these cars use tyres at the speed of light, you may do a low mileage but tyres still won't last too long with this car! Steering has some sort of feature at low speeds i.e. when parking which makes it so easy to park, so ignore the reviews saying it's like driving a bus

Had to put this purchase on hold but now looking for a W140 again (see first post for more details).

After several years of searching I now have a S420 Business Edition.
