That's because you cant sync it. It either works or is doesn't.

I take it yours is duff?

working on IR but not on RF

just thought if it could be re-syncd it might work !!!

Chris

is thre a separate fuse or relay for this ?

Either the car is not picking up the RF or the key is not giving it. Have you tried the spare?

Thanks for the reply .........

Yes, both keys same ..... both work on IR but neither works on RF.

Radio reception is fine.

I understand the the amp / receiver for the remote is under the rear pillar trim. Suppose its worth checking comnnections under there ???

Is it on drivers or passenger side ??

Thanks again

Chris

Hi,
Does the key work in the ignition (EIS) switch?

Yes both keys work in ignition and open doors windows boot etc with IR

Just wont open doors at distance through RF

Chris

I would say the RF reciever is duff.

It can be checked with a scope.

Firstly the RF signal can be checked with a special tool. Most garages have them (I do)

I still have good radio reception - thought bad radio reception was a symptom if the signal amp had gone ............... having said that ............ just had the c pillar off and found what I think is the amp (black torpedo shaped thing with one wire going to heated rear window and a couple of others going who knows where !!! Managed to break a few trim clips in the process!!

one of the wires connected to another on the back of this unit - I unplugged that to check connection and that made no difference to the remote function or the radio reception !!!

Just read a post on MBworld that said sometimes if you use inferior make batteries it can stop the rf working ????? both my remotes have new varta batts in them ??? or even if the car batt is a little low it can affect it too ??

this is bugging me now !!

thanks for the help and replies !!!
Chris
