1999 Indian W124

That is Leather, not tex. Tex has a different stitch pattern.
Its definatly come from either Indin or S.Africa, the suspension gives it away, they were setup for different conditions.

so if you don't mind driving around in an underpowered white car of uncertain origin with no guages, a knackered gearbox, an interior that looks like new apart from the saggy seats and the ripped seat bolster which has immaculate wheels although the lacquer is all chipped and no tax or MoT then this is the car for you.

What a bargain :)

That definitely is leather interior and not MB Lex as MB Lex is more durable and does not go saggy, and the door cards would not have any ruffles in them if it was MB Tex. Door card in pic has ruffles.

Suspension is an instant give away that it is South Asian build car and the rear bumper is slightly modified to the European built cars.

Personally I would say that its one of the large batch of Indian built W124's that Trade Sales in Slough sold in the late 90's...these all tended to be 220's or 250's and nearly all of them were manuals. I remember looking at one when they were new and I've subsequently seen them go through at auction with an MB India build plate on the front slam panel.....causes lots of puzzled looks on the faces of the less clued up traders:)

I've seen them go up as far as Y reg's

Somthing or nothing re the popping 3rd gear.....yeah right!

Still it only made £850, so even allowing for the gearbox and it's Indian roots, it was a cheap car...

Best aspect of the car

If the body is straight, rust free and as good as advertised it could make the basis of very good engine/gearbox transplant special. Lower /uprate the suspension, do a "Howard "on the wheels, a 280/320 engine with an auto 4/5 speed box, even a v8 if you were brave enough. Might be worth the effort if the body warranted it??????

I thought £850 was a bit high. You can pick up a 94 auto E220 in perfect order for a grand.
Maybe the buyer doesn't realise the box is KO. Judging by the dumb questions I get asked on my listings it's clear many don't fully read the descriptions.
I love this bomb site trader speak...... "I took it for a long drive and aise from popping out of 3rd, fine if you rest your hand in third was in that gear, the gearbox is incredibly sweet and smooth. I would imagine this is something or nothing." LOL

Had this on my gearbox just before it died, turned out to be the detents and a £17 part, can also be replaced with gearbox still in, better to replace this part before it goes otherwise its gearbox out to get the ball bearings out....
