1999 Mercedes C180 Auto Engine Tappets!! :(

I have just bought a 1999 (T REG) Mercedes C180 Elegance Auto, drove home from Birmingham to Bolton (178 Miles) As i got home, the engine developed a slight rattle, which has gradually worsend, got the AA out and he diagnosed this as noisy tappets (the full lot) or they may be starved of oil.

The car was sat from 1st September untill 17th Nov (When i bought it) could this have cause a problem? Or is there anybody on here that can carry out the work at a good price. I can travel as the car still drives A1 I'm still using it, it just sounds like a diesel!

The cams have to be removed and the tappets replaced. They around £15 each. can I suggest an oil and filter change with some flush first.

I shall try the engine flush and oil change etc...

If i was to get the tappets changed including labour, roughly, how much would it be?
