2-cam v 4-cam V8

My latest fantasy research (R129) shows me that for a while, round about 2000 or a little before, the quad-cam 5L V8 became a twin-cam 5L V8.

Are they much of a muchness, or is there a deal breaker/clincher regarding one over the other?
