My CLK 320 W reg (2000) auto does not immediately recognise and display P upon start up. If I allow the car to warm up for 3 to 4 minute and then switch off ignition and back on again the 'P' for park is displayed and the car operates perfectly.
If I do attempt to select D or R before the display reads them the box jerks and jumps and the car will not change down the gears If I do indeed drive off.
Any help would be mucho appreciated as it seems to be such a minor yet infuriating glich!:confused:

Do you have operator's manual?

If you have, try to look for answers to your issue.

Otherwise, take your car to the dealer and have it check. :)

Take the car to mackie automatic transmissions Glasgow & they will do a check on your car for free you will need to book it in with them just tell them that I sent you Alan

I placed the car with a local MB specialist who carried out an autobox service including filter and vast volumes of auto fluid. He identified the prob on his Star diagnostics as either gear selection module or position sensor. I purchased a second-hand gear selection module and replaced it myself - thankfully, this solved the problem. So thank you BlackC55 your were correct!
