HI all has anybody had same problem as mine my clk 320 pulls to the left and steering feels a little heavy done 94k thanks

Hello.

I had this problem a while back when I had a C Coupe. Do a search on the subject. I'm not being smart with that comment, honest, but there are loads of posts/threads on this common trait of some C's, (mine included :(), which should keep you occupied for hours if not days.

Cheers.

Portzy.

What wheels and tyres do you have?

Have you had a recent bump?

Is it just camber sensitive?

Is the suspension standard?

seems to want to pull to left all the time

For what it's worth, my CLK had a slight pull to the left since I bought it with the original Conti's on. I changed to Vredestein winter tyres in December & the pull to the left disappeared instantly. Last weekend I put the Conti's back on, but swapped left & right front wheels over from the way they were last year, and the pull to the left is back. I suspect it will only disappear when I change the front tyres, or put the winter tyres back on in December again.

I have yet to drive a Mercedes that does not want to pull to the left. Its road camber that is more pronounced in the UK than most other European roads.

I hate it as previous BMW, Ford & Audi cars did are nowwhere near as camber sensitive.

I have had loan A, C and ML class new cars and they all follow road camber the same.

My e class pulls to the left. I had a four wheel alignment check carried out that did require camber correction to one side at the front but made no difference to the pulling.

I have learnt to live with it. Fact is you will find it very difficult to get a road without noticeable camber nowadays- Bloomin councils worried about being sued from aqua planing motorists.

Next time you drive on the motorway have a close look at the massive ammount of camber on a straight section.

My late 04 C Class pulls more than seems reasonable, but the dealer told me it's actually better than most. I'd hate to drive a bad one!

There was a bulletin posted http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=476027&postcount=8
that went through some steps for the dealer to try and one of them was to swop the wheels diagonally. Can't do that on mine as the F + R sizes are different, but I swopped the fronts, the NSF being pretty worn on its outer edge. The OSF is also worn on its outer edge, but not as badly.

After swopping, the drift/pull is considerably reduced. Now this may be the edge wear pulling the car right, but the car generally feels much more settled than it ever has before.

I agree with your comments but the council did not make the Mercedes.
Why are other makes not so markedly affected by camber?

My car also pulls to the left. I thought it was sorted after some new bushes were fitted but it's not.

Neither of my other 2 French cars pull to the left.

Why does MB have a very lengthy Technical Bulletin on this issue and yet the main dealerships insists that I pay if my car is not under MB warranty?

Why has a safety recall not been done?

Sorry for rattling on but when I bought my first Mercedes, I thought that I would have a a car that would be 'fully sorted' by the manufacturer, just drive, service and enjoy.

That is unfortunately not so in my case. I find the amount of underbody rust absolutely disgraceful in a modern car, it was manufactured in Germany according to the Russian site). No underbody rust in my other older cars.

I do enjoy driving the car but cannot accept the pulling to the left issue.

Sorry folks but at this moment I am very disappointed with my MB and I am seriously considering taking a 'big hit' on changing to another make and have nothing more to with MB cars.

Signed

Unhappy :(

I just put brand new Goodyear F1 GSD3's on all round and the slight pull to the left on roads cambered to the left has returned. As before, if going round a one way system in the RH lane it will pull gently to the right.

In my case it needs the lightest of corrections and after 20 mins I simply don't notice it.

Also in my case the inside shoulders of the fronts were pretty shot so the tramlining has gone - so I am verall v happy :o
