Hello Guys

First post from newbie.. Recently purchased my dream car (e55) and what a beast :bannana:. Unfortunately it does need some wages throwing at it which I will start a project post for.. At this point I am looking for suggestions for discs and pads (non corrosive pads if pos)

OEM discs and red stuff pads if you want less dust. Otherwise dealer pads as well.

Welcome to the forum:thumb:

OEM front discs and pads are around £230 from the dealer.

Cheers Guys

Is it the OEM discs that reduce the dust? newbie! Are they better quality than MB discs? Is it the pad dust that causes corrosion. cheers guys

I've been told many times on this and other MB forums;
On AMG models, use genuine MB parts, the fit perfectly, do not squeal or shudder, are guaranteed and are not that much more expensive then aftermarket. Search eBay, buy from Mercedes dealers, a lot of them advertise there.
I often use MB Edinburgh, their parts prices are very keen indeed.

Good luck, Colin.

Main dealer parts counters will often give you a discount if you ask. If your local dealer doesn't try another. The cost of brakes from main dealers often surprise people, they're pretty competitive with the likes of ECP and GSF (after discount).

as above

always original disks
red stuff pads for low dust otherwise oem

Just to note mine did go through a period of squeeking with genuine discs and pads for a while in the first year I got mine.

Went away by itself...

I use ATE for my car, good German quality

i made a mistake of using textar and it was squealing like mad....changed pads to dealer ones and all good now but i think discs are still making some noise

I have pagid pads in my setup (S55k 8 Pots) and they squeal like pigs. I am about to change them to Dealer supplied OE pads in the hope it cures the squealing. I have tried pretty much everything else bar changing the pads to another manufacturer. Good luck.

+1
I tried pagid pads on my E55 with the same result, I just couldn't live with the squealing. Sent them back and fitted OE pads, problem solved. Won't be making that mistake again.

Sometimes, you really do get what you pay for.

The dealer I bought my CL55 from had fitted Pagid pads and discs before I bought it. They made a vast variety of horrific noises including screaming under heavy braking that sounded like an injured hare.

Just had MB pads and discs fitted and while there's still the occasional squeak, it's like night and day. Yes, they're a bit more expensive but I don't have any regrets!

Just purchased EBC usr discs and TEXTAR epad for my clk will report after Friday when they are being fitted.

Tony.
