2003 e55 strange problem

Went to start car this morning.. it fired up and badly misfired and switched off. After a few goes it seemed fine.. message on dash was.. esp defective visit workshop with engine light on. I put code reader on and code was p0638 throttle actuator control range performance bank 1.. i cleared it now engine light gone showing 0 malfunctions and seems to drive fine... all this began after wife used spare key (black one).. the key ive always used is the keyless go one.. could this have caused this??? Any ideas...

I doubt a key issue.

It is probably something to do with the throttle actuator. Just monitor it and see if it does it again.

I recently had a similar issue, it turned out to be an electrical connection issue in the cable/plug that plugs into the TB.

I have ordered new pins and plugs that connect to the tb, not fitted them as yet.

Only recently had the pins replaced in the plug that connects to the TB, all ok now:bannana: before if I shook the cable leading to the TB I would get the errors on the dash with the same error code when I used my code reader.
