2003 EPC security

I found a site selling 2003 EPC DVD's and notice a reference to the installation requiring some kind of registration from General Motors.

It makes me think that the software may be impossible to use, &/or have a finite time frame before having to buy a new license.

What do you guys think?

How does the Mercedes LAN ID code activation system work?

When you install Mercedes WIS or EPC you must enter A License key this key must be a match for the LAN ID of you computer.To find out the LAN ID of your computer run the install programme for WIS or EPC it will display the LAN ID of you computer you can then copy the LAN ID and send it to the supplier of the disk for a license key.

License keys will be different for WIS & EPC and keys can be made that run out.

Yes I can get you a copy it costs £50 the license key does not run out and does not cost extra

£50 seems rather steep when I can get a 2001 copy for next to nothing. I doubt there will be many changes in it for my car bearing in mind its age.
