my neighbour is looking at a 2004(july) e 220 avantguard estate approx buying price from a collegue at £14500.(20k mile)is it a good buy? is is prone to r..t?????

You and your neighbour will be pleased to learn that r..t doesn't seem to be a problem on the W211 yet. A few of the front panels are ally anyway. Price seems good to me, depending on spec., as long as the mileage can be confirmed and it has FMBSH.

Glass's Guide values a 2004 '04' E220 CDi Avantgarde Estate Auto with 20k miles at between £22,250 and £17,600 so the price is exceptional - unless there is something signifcantly wrong with this car.
