Hello all

I noticed the other day while driving in the wet that the passenger side wing mirror was clear while the drivers side was all wet. I touched the passenger side one and it was nice and warm, touched the drivers side one and it was all cold and wet.

The only minor problem it causes is that it doesnt clear the water off the mirror and when your reversing an S class in the dark with very poor visibility and no rear wiper either, you think your reversing a bus instead.

I just wondered if the drivers side mirror is on a separate fuse? And if so where is the fuse for it? Though i dont think this would be the porblem as all the other electrical functions of the mirror work fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I doubt there is any specific fuse for the mirror heating on a W220, at least the later models do not have. Most likely it is the heater element at the mirror glass that got broken. I've changed one of those from two different cars. Unfortunately you've got the problem on the more expensive mirror, the driver's side.

Of course it could be a broken wire too.

When you say you've changed one from two different cars, do you mean the heater element, the glass or the whole mirror?

Dont know how much they cost but the easiest thing i guess would be a second hand mirror, or even the glass if the heater element is attached to the back of it?

I dont really fancy pulling the door card and mirror apart though, good chance of breaking something else along the way as theres plenty of electronics jammed in there.

While just having a quick search on fleabay i came accross this, wonder if its a straight fit?

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Seems a very cheap and ideal fix to this.
