Hi everyone I am looking at purchasing the above mentioned car but need some guidance as I have never had this sort of problem or worked on air suspension but generally have no problems putting things right with some guidance, the car has recently had a new compressor fitted which pumps the car up but appears to high and gives a very bouncy ride what is the likely cause and where should I start investigations all advice welcomed as the car suits my purpose in all other respects many thanks Chris

Easiest way is to get it on STAR (MB dealer or specialist with one) That will find if theres a fault and if not can reset the level via star. There are many things that it could be and its easy to spend a fortune and a lot of time chasing such faults. Most likey cause is that the system wasn't reset properly after the new pump was fitted. Again STAR can and should do that.

Hi Chris, if the car has the off-road package option the ride height will be adjustable. There is a rotary switch that selects three heights. Normally it is in the lowest setting. Start the engine and with the doors shut try adjusting the ride height up and down. On the way up you should hear the compressor run and up you go. Takes a minute to settle. The relief valve just lets air out on the way down. A 2006 ML on original shocks will feel a bit floaty by now. The front shocks are very expensive so tend not to get changed.
