2007 CL63 AMG With 1412 Miles Damaged !

I'm going to solve this debate once and for all. I just asked the inevitable question of how the crash occurred. Brownie points if anyone guesses correclty (without messaging the seller).

I doubt the seller would know, the car would have been brought from a salvage auction, and is just being sold on.

I need a call today because a buyer has already accepted a price of £55000 and is looking to pay later this evening after which the car will be removed from ebay.

If he has sold it, why is he talking to you?? He's pulling your bluff - most likely he is running out of time to sell it and the owner is probably going to move it on through some other channels.

Imagine the insurance company that had to pay out for that?
They will be fuming.
and what do they mean by unrecorded? Are they saying it will not show on HPI or that the case has been hushed?
I mean being a 57 it is less than a yr and will require a full value pay out.

It does beg the question that ....

If it is unrecorded , and so cheap to fix , why not just get it done ?

Stuff gets written off when the cost of the repair is more than 60% of the value of the car doesn't it ?

So, £113k car , written off = £66k damage ?

I though it was 50% pf the value,, maybe age makes a difference. Some car makers have an agreement and supply new cars at a special price to the insurance co's

Don't think the bi-xenons are working

Here goes, this is his reply to my answer as to what happened to the car......

"your guess is good as mine.as a motor trader my opinin is the car was staionary when hit on the near side and shunted forward into a lampost .the reasoning 4 this is 1.no air bags have deployed 2.front parts have pushed into fanbelt area and the belt is perfect. had this been moving it would have certainly severed. the other party needs 5 days to arrange finance so now would be a good time 2 come and view.we are traders and have bought the car from the insurance company. resr assured the car is hpi clear and unrecorded. i promise u will not be dissapointed when you view the car. it looks a hell of a lot worse than it actually is,hence unrecorded. . please call me on 07966653*** asap to confirm interest and discuss any further worries and the exact details of damage. if the car doesnt sell by the end of the auction i will be repairin g and keepin 4 my self .2 of these cars are manufactured daily 4 worldwide distribution. you have an 18 month waiting list from mercedes. it soudand looks amazing."

To be quite frank, I don't understand most of the stuff he is jibbering on about. Can someone explain what he means by unrecorded?

When a car has damaged it falls into a category, and depends on how bad or what the damage is,, this info then remains on the log book for life,,unrepairable, repairable or cosmetic damage like a flood

That all *sounds* reasonable, but I would be concerned that if it was hit & shunted while stationary, that the gearbox may be damaged.
Also, I understand the unrecorded bit, but he reckons he bought it off an insurance company but if the damage is so minor then the insurance company would have repaired it.
The only thing I can think of is that the insurance company declared it an economic write off because most policies offer a new car if yours is damaged beyond 50% in the first year. But 50% is way more than he's suggesting.

for the insurance company to write it off, it must be recorded or that will be illegal.
Now if there is a waiting list, the company would have paid out money as they can not get another model so i really do not know what this unrecorded business is all about

i don't. is he saying it is not on HPI or the insurance comapny has silently written it off without registering it in any category?

I was wondering that, if you look at the internal pics the gear shift looks funny and the display states it is not in P. Keep clear, new gear box?????

We all are keeping clear, I don't think anyone would buy it because of the state it is in

I think it is best scrapped and given to R2D2 to to either transform it or use it to transform others.

When a car is written off, it should go away and be tested after the repair to show that it has been correctly repaired.
The the paper work is amended and this recorded. If the car has not been tested then HPI will tell you

If the damage on the car is not structural and does not affect the driving or safety, then it does not have to be recorded
