Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 2012 e350 and have spotted a few that come with multi contour seats in the UK. However it's not clear to me whether multi contour seats mean that they will come with a massage feature. Can anyone clarify?

I'll be doing long distances so am quite keen to try and get that option.

Thanks in advance :-)

There is also
- Dynamic contour
- Ventilated
- heated.

As well as
- Memory
- Leather
- Sports
- Designo

All of these features serve a purpose.

Having driven several times around the world in distance .... I can assure you that heating is very important for tired muscles.

Aha. Thanks for this. Yes I was planning to go for multi contour heated memory seats. I'm just not sure whether multi contour seats include the massage feature or whether this is only in the "dynamic contour" feature you mentioned.

The massage feature is part of the Dynamic Multicontour seats, not the standard Multicontour version.

Having recently bought a e350 cab & estate, I did a fair bit of research.
I think the multicontour seat is pretty standard on this model, but massage is not, nor memory (£1000 extra- sounds a lot, but the seats have loads of motors & electronic integration).
I would say the memory option is well worth it.
The massage is a very rare option

thanks. How much of a difference does the multi contour seats make for long journeys? I'll be doing a lot of driving so want something that won't leave me fatigued

The heavier the car the less tired you will be when you arrive at the other end. It is nothing more than simple physics.

The e classes are great cars, super for cruising & incredibly comfy.
The cab we have has multicontour sports seats which are a little firmer.
Whilst the estate is also a sport, the seats are comfier & a little softer, but does not have multicontour.
We came from B & C classes- there is a vast difference in comfort- we noticed a huge difference in the all round driving experience. What are you used to driving?

My CLS has Dynamic, multi-contour and massage seats.

The multi-contour function is fantastic for getting the seat exactly as one wants it. :thumb:

The Dynamic function is great for keeping you supported during the more enthusiastic drives.

The massage function is, well, rather meh! :dk: Unless they have changed the function dramatically since 2005 it's pretty lame to be honest. A rather feeble wave effect as the three back support bladders inflate/deflate in rotation. I wouldn't mourn it's loss...

Another fab thing about the pre-facelift E classes which you may already know about is the headlights.
The facelift models have the fancy led drls integrated into the headlamps.
BUT, the faclift ones come with halogens as standard. Very few are specced with the LED headlamps which was £1000 option.

The pre-facelift ones have the intelligent lighting system which automatically adjusts the range plus has the cornering function, which is amazing.
The cornering function has the auxillary headlamp which comes on to go around corners, but when driving along a twisty road the main bixenon beam twists to follow the road, which really is a fab funtion. I love it! Must have been around for ages on S/CL-classes, but filtering across the range more.
I think I prefer the looks of the pre-facelift too, especially since changing/painting the grille on our cab

It helps to get the seat just right for you.
I don't find myself changing it much on a journey.
The only disappointment with the seat is that the multicontour controls are not linked into the memory settings

Are they not?

On the CLS they are, I can set the seat up and recall the settings by pressing the memory button. Bladders inflate/deflate as required.

Some people even set up the seat in up to 3 different positions and change as the mood takes them, to relieve stress/tension on very long journeys.

The multi contour seats are fab.
Imagine sitting in really comfortable seats and then on top of that a cushion of air, and that is how you feel.
I did over 500 miles in a day a couple of weeks ago and felt no discomfort whatsoever.

It seems they are different for W/S212 E Class.

Option 432
Dynamic Multi Contour Front Seats - oncost of £889.36 (in 2010).

From the brochure:
The dynamic multi-contour front seats ensure optimum support. Individually controlled air chambers allow the seats to adapt to the occupant's body shape, and the seat length, side bolsters and lumbar supports are all pneumatically adjustable. In sportier driving, the bolsters can automatically increase the level of support, and there's a seven zone dynamic massage function for maximum in car relaxation."

Having the side bolsters inflate to the corresponding corner is fab, and the massage has two intensities.

I love them, however all my passengers so far, (bar the wife) switch them off :dk:.

I didn't think so, but will check next time in the cab
