2012 E63 gearbox issue , help plz

Thank for all your input guys, but the fact that a fault code is generated tells me that all is not right. MSL tomorrow so will see how that goes.
 
Sometimes, only when warm, sometimes not at all, it seems to have a mind of its own, just like a moody teenager - “why!?”
When it does work, is the gearbox in 1st or 2nd when at a standstill? Just wondering, as Start/Stop is always off unless in Comfort mode.

Just driven 40 miles this morning in “comfort” gearbox was consistent in changing into 1st when cold, when warm, inconsistent, sometimes 1st, sometimes 2nd.
Never once when warm did stop/start work, even at traffic lights. “ECO” was on, but “inactive” said the dash display. I have noticed previously that if you have your foot on the brake gently it works, but if you have the “hold” function active it (stop/start) doesn’t kick in.
The draw on the battery was minimal as it wasn’t raining and only DRL’s were on. Air Con was in auto and ambient 18*C :confused:
 
Certainly sounds like there’s a fault then.

FWIW Stop/Start worked perfectly on my pre-facelift car, only inactivating itself at low temps, or at other times you’d expect. On my facelift car it has a mind of its own, just like yours, with apparently no reason why it decides to either work or not work. It’s had the dealer look at it multiple times, and over the last couple of years they’ve replaced various sensors and both batteries under warranty, but it’s still very erratic and now the car’s out of warranty so that’s it.

One thing that I did have for a period was that the ECO indicator would be green in the instrument cluster until I almost came to a stop at which point it would turn yellow. That was cured by replacing the gearbox auxiliary oil pump.

Hopefully just a small problem that wont require forking out 1200 quid for a new TCU.

If it makes you feel any better, I had to fork out more than this for just rubber seals that go around the window for my 123. :mad: :wallbash: o_O

Well ..... following a visit to MSL today and having a nice chat with Acid and the verdict is that the problem isnt severe enough to warrant any work and Acid suggests waiting for it to get worse so he can locate the exact root of the problem rather than replacing a load of parts.
Not the result i was hoping for to be honest, but it did only cost me the price of a diagnostic session .
Acid was a top bloke who too the time to come and have a good chat with me a couple of times.
 
Does it do it in sport mode?
An AMG shouldn't have it, but the standstill decoupling in the BlueEfficiency range is a royal PITA, causing hesitation/lag and a 'kick' when cold pulling off. Doesn't get enabled in sport mode and it's better when warm.
 
Update the ECU software to the least version......
 
All latest software was updated before i went to MSL.
