2014 Comand System

Hello

Got a lease 2014 E class about 6 months ago.
One thing I have noticed is the Comand system is a bit crap! Compared to my BMW Idrive CIC system. Does any one else come from using BMW iDrive?

The most annoying feature is the way Mercedes online works by using your mobile phone. First off it took me about a day to get it working on my android phone. after installing a dodgy third party modem app and having to find all my ee isp server details. Half the time it does not connect and when it does its sooooo slow.

One thing I LOVED about the idrive was the internal sim and the send2car feature just works flawlessly. you send the destination to your car and it arrives a few min later no messing about with any thing. On the Mercedes system you gotta have your phone connected and you need to have a decent internet connection and they get on your hands and knees and pray it connects. So much hassles for a feature BMW got so right!

What are your thoughts on this system?

There problems with the IDrive as well to be honest.

System crashing being one I have experienced a lot and having to reset the system manually many times by pushing both eject buttons (DVD and CD) and the volume knob(mute).

BMW don't know how to fix these problems either with no firmware upgrades available.

I find the Asian incar infomedia centers be be among the best at present.

My MB and Lexus were both manufactured in the same year so you'd expect the capabilities of each to be similar to some degree. But no, in every way the Lexus system is light years ahead of COMAND.

Things may be different now of course.

Probably not tbh, my mum has a 2008 CLK and her comand is not much different to this 2014 one looks the same pretty much does all the same stuff. maybe the comand online is the only difference and that is just some html and javascipt nothing special doesent do any thing remotely useful.

I think the new C class and CLA has the latest latest Comand? which hopefully has been totally redesigned!

I have seen videos of the new S Class Comand, Now that looked smart!

Oh and I never once had my CIC idrive crash hehe
