Hi all, not sure where to post this - admin please move if in the wrong place.
My friend has a 2014 SLK250 & doesn't seem to have any receiver on the driver's door handle for the total closure system?
According to the manual you should be able to close the roof & windows by holding the key pointing towards the driver's door handle and continuously pressing the lock button - it doesn't work?? Not keyless entry btw.
Most Mercs I've experienced have a small window on the driver's handle that you can see physically - which received the infra red signal from the key. This one doesn't??
Anyone any ideas?

Not sure about the 2014 SLK but MB dropped IR some time ago. Convenience closing and opening should still work via radio. Does "one touch" opening and closing work on all windows and the roof? If not, calibration should fix it (long press open/close, keep button pressed a few seconds after reaching the end position).

There is definitely an infrared light in the end of the key and the car doesn't have 'one touch' control of roof but there is a button to hold which opens roof & windows so I don't think it needs recalibrating.

Has anyone heard of this car not having total closure?

I'm sorry if this seems daft, but is the boot separator fully engaged ? As you know, the roof won't operate otherwise.

Not daft at all - it wasn't to start with - but it is now & still the same. It all works from inside but not through they key. It won't even close the windows via the key.

I thought it was an optional extra and perhaps your car has not got that feature. I know I don't have it on mine.

I have not had any SLK but convenience closing was standard on cars that did not yet have remote door locks. Can you please show the price list with the option listed.

Ignore my roof comment, I was thinking about a sedan and the sunroof.

Closing system with IR control seems to be an option (option code 880) on some SLK cars. Do you have this code on your data-card?

Seems this affects convenience closing too (unlike I assumed).

It was an option on our earlier SLK (2005 R171). Ours has it but I think we have used it maybe once in 18 years.

How do I get the options list from vin number please? The Russian sites don't seem to work anymore.

Is there a website to decode the vin to show what options your car comes with?
None of the Russian ones work anymore.
