I survived a Keyless relay theft attempt...

That’s relying on the strength of the fob’s signal relative to the sensitivity of the car’s receiver though. Not only that but I think you’ll find the remote button press range isn’t really relevant to the keyless go signal strength either.

Relay devices use another completely separate receiver and transmitter so operating range can be totally different and as I said I wouldn’t rely on a set distance for safety. Far better to be over cautious in this instance than lose your car over an assumption for operating range! :)

No. Don't agree but not arguing any longer. He asked about the operating range of the fob.

He was asking about precautions regarding keyless relay theft?

Hence the reference to his location and that of the car when parked, which is relevant. If he hadn’t got keyless go the range would be irrelevant as the car won’t go without the key being inserted anyway :)

Try one of their installers near you. They don't do installations - I think COMAND Uk do Ghost if you can get to them.

That is my intention Rory. I asked Autowatch where my nearest installer is and haven't had a reply:dk:
If it comes to it, I'll have it installed at my premises just like Tracker operate.
You are right that Comand install Ghost. But its a 150 mile round trip:(

I’m more than happy to drive it down for you rog? :D ;)

and you can probably drive through the new forest too. I'm sure the "wild " horses there will be happy to see something that has over 500 times the power each of them does.

COMAND/Unique are the people to speak to Roger.

Maybe see if you can combine an install with your next trip up the M3?

Good point Will.
I have a Heathrow run on 2nd Oct at 9am so may just leave it for Comand to do if I can arrange an appointment that day..

They’re about five minutes from the Lightwater junction on the M3 (J3) and they know what they’re doing regards all things MB electronics etc.

Probably your best bet :thumb:

Can you whatsapp me a link please Ed! :) cheers!

I was looking last night, and couldn't find anything (was looking for an actual flood/security light), but have opted for a mains one instead.

Hi guys,

There are absolutely loads on Amazon, just search for 'outdoor solar lights'. These are the ones I bought:

4 x these smaller and lower powered lights (still bright), I use them to light up the pathway as you walk along: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07H575GYP/?tag=amazon0e9db-21

2 x these more powerful lights, I use them above the front/back door. You could pair them up over one spot if you want! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NN6717T/?tag=amazon0e9db-21

They just need a day in the sun (I left them for two days) before use.

These are those cheap security cams: Neos Shop

They're only £20 + £5 postage. If you're gonna buy more than one, it's better to buy them direct than from Amazon, as on Amazon it's £24.99 per item (with free postage).

The cameras are not perfect, but they are great for what you pay. If you have an E63s, you should probably be able to get a good security system!

Apologies if this is off topic!

Cheers!

^Only took an hour to fit as well. As you say, well worth it.

Are you happy with Ghost? I've been toying with the idea of getting it but not sure how much of a faff it is to lice with day to day.
I've also thought about the version of tracker with the proximity key card / fob that checks whether the prox tag is present for the car to be driven without alerting the tracking company.

“The simplest and cheapest thing is to get a pouch to put your keys in “

Best couple of quid I’ve spent in a long time from eBay

I had 2 attempts in 10 days just over 1 year ago.. they couldn’t even open the car (keys in signal blocker box) and if they did get in they would have to get around the ghost immobiliser.. never been back since, I sleep with my Ring app on loud
