2018 C220d Cabriolet keeps sticking in 1st gear when stuck in traffic

What mode are you driving in, Eco, Comfort, Sport or sport +?
Usually im in individual, with start atop disabled, other settings at comfort.

I just noticed today after I took the car to the bank, my engine is really hot but my radiator is cold to touch after a 20 min drive.

Im wondering about thermostat now, as it always happens when stopped with engine idling

Doesn't sound right re the radiator but try driving in comfort mode and see what happens.

Hiya

Well, computer guy never showed up, last time i waited nearly 3 weeks on him, he has all the MB software and tools so worth the wait.

So far since making this post, Ive replaced outside ambient temp sensor, and the inside ambient temp sensor, air filter, pollen filter, Start/Stop Module,/Battery , new thermostat, all genuine Mercedes parts.

My start stop is working as soon as I start the car, and it works right away, but after a few hundred yards it switches itself off.

It has been much better since changing these parts and its only sticking occasionally, I'm hoping it just needs codes cleared now.

FYI - Parts Info

Start Stop module/battery - Dingbro £97 / MB £168 includes vat - both modules made my Hella

Outside Ambient Temp Sensor - MB Part £30.40+vat

Inside Ambient Temp Sensor - MB Part
£18.10+vat

Thermostat module - Dingbor £110+vat / MB £75 includes vat.

Gearbox Service Parts - Genuine MB

Oil sump (filters built into sump) £130+vat

Transmission oil 5 litres - genuine MB - £55.71+vat / 1 litre - £17.69+vat (6 litres required)

New Stretch bolts - Genuine MB - x10 £15.50+vqt

Problem solved !!!

Computer guy came on Friday, plugged computer into the car, DPF regeneration was at 158% ....and because I drive like an old man and onlyndonshoet journeys the DPF never got the chance to regenerate.

He took the car out with computer plugged in, he said regeneration carried out normally with no problems.

DPF can put the car in limp mode.

Also my AC is blowing cold sjlinve changing temp sensors.

And start stop module i changed only has a life span of 4 to 5 years, my car has just turned 5 years old so worth doing to save any further problems.

Of anyone needs help or info on parts, give me a shout anytime.

Thanks to everyone who helped me, very much appreciated! 😊

Would a gearbox ECU reset be worth doing?
MB guidance "Switch ignition on, press accelerator to floor for 10 seconds, keep accelerator pressed down then switch off ignition, release accelerator, then wait 2 minutes to restart engine"

Also is it worth deleting any personal profiles you have installed.

Suspect it is a control issue rather than mechanical fault.
