Hi short quetion , i realise you cant run a common rail on pure veg , but will it be ok to put 25 litres in and top up with deisel to the brim ? just trying to save money ? veg in cash and carry is i believe around 70p a litre e320 cdi yr 2000

Try a few crushed up carrots in the tank, you'll get 80 mpg.

Sell the Mercedes and buy a cheaper car? Just an idea :thumb:

If you want to run veg get a e300td one of the best veg oil burners there is

As is the c250td, even ran this on thinned waste engine oil too. But of course these aren't common rail. Its something I have a keen interest in and have been doing for years.

I recently completed a 3,500 road trip across Europe and back and half of it was on waste oil in the w202 c250 td. Great engine.

Some free veg oil here if you want it.... And a centrifuge.....

Very kind offer thanks, but at the moment I can get more than I need and its only had very light use and need a strain. Thanks again though.

funnily enough thats kind of what i have done, i will explain , my serpentine belt broke on friday , leaving me without a car to do my work over the weekend .
My indie that i use for repairs very kindly loaned me a courtesy car , a s reg rover 400 hatchback until the new belt is fitted , now this little rover drove lovely and is very economical only 1400cc , so i asked how much he wanted for it and he said £280 with a yrs mot , and has just had the head gasket replaced by them , so i said done deal , i will park my merc up and only use it for the odd long journey , and will use the rover as my works car , i reckon i will save £30 a week in fuel , so in a few mnths it will have paid 4 itself , if i get a yr out of it it owes me nothing ...

That's a great result and don't forget the has most likely got a scrap value of £100 or so when it all comes to an end.

If it only lasts a year you can then scrap it for £100 :) Win,win!

smart move...definitely a win,win with scrap value:thumb:

Yes it will cost me a little bit more to add to my policy , but not a lot i reckon, and it has only 89000 on the clock , and sounds very sweet the engine that is, i will only be doing 100 miles a week in it if that ,oh and a electric sunroof that works ,more than my mercedes has got!!!.
i will once a week give my merc a 10 mile blast down the a14 to the supermkt just to keep it running ok , i doubt i will put more than 3000 miles a yr on it , i already have a restricted miles policy of 6000 a yr so all seems good .
Ok the downside is 2 cars to tax , but at least the rover is only 140 a yr to tax
