320 CLK
Following a problem with a faulty battery, the first time the car had to be jump started and unfortunately this has led to two malfunctions coming up on the dashboard. Brake Assist System fault (BAS) and Airbag System Warning. on both of them it states go to workshop.

The first time this happened the car was taken to the garage and the fault was rectified. the car was then stored for a period of time in a locked garage and the battery once again failed. on connecting a new battery this fault re-appeared and was cleared again, unfortunately having stored the car for a some weeks and disconnecting the battery to stop it going flat, the same message has re-appeared.

We have been told that this is a common fault with the 2001 model and we can get the ECU controlling these sensors fixed.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem and can suggest a long term fix to stop this occurring.

Regards

The only experience of the BAS coming on is replacing the BAS switch which is easy and is located under the break pedal and is about £12. on both CLK's ive had it go 2000 and 2001 models and its been fine since.. a nice cheap merc fix for once!

The only experience ive had of when you drain the battery is kick down doesnt function properly.. some say an accelerator reset sorts it but mine sorted itself after driving back from cornwall to the North West!! self fixing mercs thats what we want!

I had the same problem on my 1999 CLK230K a couple of times. I found it cleared itself after switching off, leaving and locking the car, then returning and starting up again. Just a minor software blip that needed to reset itself.

Charge or reconnect the battery then turn the steering from lock to lock which resets the system. It tells you this in the manual, I had to do the same when I replaced my battery a year ago.

im having same issue
