Turns out that this car is for sale literally a few doors down from me:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/836737.htm

Just been out for a quick run and i'm really really impressed. Build seems rock solid. Awesome engine. Loving the colour. Genuine seller.

What to the 500 faithful think? i've not really got a clue what i'm looking for re problems.

Wonder if its overpriced given the swiss one is similar miles from a trader at £8k.???

Have someone buying my clk at the end of the month.

Worth £6-7k

My E500 was identical spec - I thought it was it until I saw the number plates.

Check correct functioning gearbox and replacement of wiring loom.

Also check for RUST and past accident damage. Correct idle and gear changes without clunking/whining - even in reverse.

Good Luck!

It is indeed a very nice car and the owner will have looked after it well.

I didn't think the facelift cars came out in 1992? I thought it was the latter end of 1993?

Dave!

You could get a very nice CLK55 for that money ;)

In all seriousness the mrs is far from convinced about LHD

Nor was I when i bought my first LHD car, a certain silver 500E....now i hate RHD ! LHD rules ! I can see why most of the world chose LHD !!

I love LHD !

I have missed many bargains over the years for fear of LHD...

If I had the chance would I buy them again? No because the UK still doesnt like LHD and those were cars I was trying to make a few £'s on.

But for personal use, not worrying about resale, LHD is no issue..

LHD is a pain at car park entrances.....i was surprised recently when entering the Termnial 5 car park, they didn't have ticket barriers with buttons either side of the car...

Proportion of LHD cars in the UK has been increasing in recent years on anecdotal evidence.

cheers

Once you get used to LHD it doesn't seem all that different. We have a RHD and a LHD in Greece and both me and my wife drive them both every day without any problems.

We also have a scooter witch is neither!!.

Heres another one!!

How come its not selling then?

Probably: 5 litre V8, 15 years old and seat on the "wrong side"

Add in a healthy slice of recession and i think its really becoming only viable for the real enthusiast

Not just that.. there are plenty of buyers out there but at the moment this big engines have to be a good price... this has done around 200K miles and therefore price is unrealistic..
