Don't know if this has been posted before, but its got very low mileage (65000) and might interest someone on here. Is it a genuine AMG widebody?

Mercedes SE Class

Price is £1 short of £10k

The particular car has been for sale in the past. I'm fairly certain it was discussed then, although I'm not 100%.
I can't remember how much it was before, either :o

It appears to be a lovely car. It's a shame it hasn't got either design of the correct AMG Widebody alloys.
Pricewise, I would say you could knock a bit off, but a rare car with such low mileage, means it will always command a premium.

Ive never seen this one before... the pics are too small to see any detail but could be a good car..

Does state it's an original widebody.

Not sure about the paint being metallic though?

Looks tidy enough, missing it's towing eye cover which I imagine is quite hard to find or is that hole a fog light?

Wheels don't suit it at all imo

Looks like the real deal. Ive got the perfect wheels for it too!

Reminds me what a pleasure it is to use exchange and mart v autotrader .:D

This is still for sale!! What's wrong with it? Apart from the dreadful wheels that is. I was thinking of taking a look...

I'd hazard a guess AMG have never been near that car.

On the basis of?

Has anyone on here been to view this car, if so, I'd appreciate your views. Thanks.

That looks totally genuine AMG.

Genuine Gen II Widebody kit, along with steering and AMG dials, those dials are a rare version and again totally genuine.

No engine mods or interior mods has no bearing on authenticity of AMG ground effects. Back in the independant AMG days, a customer could order as little or as much as they desired. The rear bumper is like that on all Widebody w126 models, if you look at what retains the bumper to the sides of the car, there is no real option to adapt.

Time to stop guessing.

I would expect to see the rear bumper fitted as this:-

Or this (albeit a Gen I car)

But not like this

I'm still not convinced, and at £9,000 and having been for sale for 2 years or so I'd be asking why the cheapest Gen II genuine widebody SEC I've ever seen is not being snapped up?

Something is just not adding up.

Anyone near South Norwood? I'm really curious about this now.

Thanks for your comments. It has had a respray and the guy has been very upfront about it, having said that, it's an easy spot from the over spray under the bonnet in the photos.

As said here, it's been up for sale for a considerable time. Some one on here must have viewed it?

Ahh you've spoken to the owner?

Did you ask if the car had any provenance? Stratton build information etc?

Genuine Widebody, 65,000 miles. £9K seems a steal if it is what it is.

What's the catch?

There is 'some' history, but apparently it's not a Stratton conversion. Arranged to see it this weekend. So will feed back then.

Any what to look for, or other info would be useful beforehand.

Really just the usual SEC stuff, open the boot and look for rot under the rear window (parcel shelf).

Check both wells either side of the boot floor.

Arches rot, see if the front wings are fibreglass or sheet metal (could be either even original AMG used either).

Look for anything on the car with an AMG part number (mostly start with the letters HWA)

Are the springs coloured?

Do the shocks have AMG markings.

The "Not a Stratton" would have me asking where it all took place then. I can't imagine a car going all the way back to the factory for body mods only, they generally only went to Germany for a full house 6.0 build.
