500SEC AMG Widebody - Low miles

Yes bought. Just sat here trying to start a new thread in the Members Projects, but for some reason its not allowing me (thread post under 30?).

So here it is just home:

And here it is again, without the appalling alloys:

It's going into the bodyshop next week to have a few bits & pieces done - I'm not sure if the rear spoiler is AMG, but IMHO it looks awful, this is going to be swapped out for the smaller AMG lip spoiler.

If the mods could swap this to projects then I'd appreciate it - thanks.

What a difference a wheel change makes.

Boot spoiler will also improve things.

Looking forward to this one.

I could, but you would not be able to post any updates to it, as you would still not have the required amount of posts.

You're over half way, so not long to go;)

Good luck with the car.

Ah, ok. I'll give you another shout when I'm at the magic number. Thanks.

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought those 'replacement' alloys were ****.

The original ones are a massive improvement.

Where did you get those correct alloys... Are they the -11 offset ones or have you used spacers?

Found them tucked away (read: very poorly listed :thumb:) on ebay a month or so back. Yes they're the correct offset -12.7 rear & 0 front.

I used 32mm thread length ball seat bolts all round (simply because I had them kicking around), but found that the rears were clicking, so have put 3mm spacers on. With the fronts the spokes were catching on the calipers (i.e. the wheels wouldn't even sit back against the plates without spacers), so I used 5mm ones here. For info the front calipers are bendix where as the rears are ATE. After trawling the web for info I did read that there is a problem with fitting Pentas (depending on offset) where Bendix calipers are concerned as they're larger than the ATE ones.

Yes I have to use 5mm spacers on the front on mine, nothing on the rear.

I saw those wheels, are they the ones from scotland?

Yep. TBH I was relieved to see them arrive, communication from the seller was pretty scant!

Yes I had the same issue.. I was bidding for a guy in the states (48hp on here), he really wanted them for his widebody but the seller just never responded.
However im pretty sure its the same guy who sold me a set of these a few years ago.

I did a drive by viewing on the wb late last year and dismissed it because of the wheels. The wb pentas then came up on eBay, without them the car was a no-go. So buying the wheels before the car was a leap of faith that the car would check out too.

There was another set on eBay just before Christmas, they sold, but for considerably more than I was prepared to pay. They obviously surface every now and again, apologies if I've trodden on toes this time, I've read the Phoenix thread so know the story.

not a problem for me, im just glad they ended up on a SEC rather than some VW minibus.

Hi mate do you still own this widebody?
