560 sec owner

So after a few disappointing viewings and missed opportunities, I finally bought a SEC

Mercedes 560 SEC SOLD (1989) on Car And Classic UK [C741330]

Picked it up Thursday from the seller who lives 5 mins away from home and wafted back

Nice example, huge history, low owners and with lots of money spent on it over the past 15 yrs or so.

A few items to sort, one could be expensive due to what appears to be at least one worn camshaft but just planning to enjoy for now and hope the toddler seat fits in the back!

The only slight problem is that the week prior I picked up a cheap C124 E320 sportline with work needed ...... which now has to go!

Love the SEC. How's it going 2 weeks on?

I looked at a couple about 12 years ago but chickened out in the end. One of the sellers showed me how you can stand a glass of water on the engine and you won't get any vibrations! So smooth.

It's going well thanks, love driving it and seems to get positive responses from other drivers too. Thermostat and/or temp sender wiring needs attention and a few other minor things but otherwise I'm loving it! It also passed the part time family outing test (2yr old plus 'stuff') and so the Mrs resistance has waned somewhat
