A car that has intrigued me!

That’s a rare car. I can’t remember seeing a CL203 specified as if it was a factory AMG before with AMG bumpers an the AMG IV wheels. Nice.

Yep loony tunes tax band. 2007 car with high CO2 emissions means highest 'old car' tax band. Oddly through the advert says it is ULEZ compliant despite this. Khan missing a taxation trick there.

ULEZ taxes NOx emissions, not CO2, and all petrol cars made after 2005 (as well as many made before) are ULEZ compliant. A relative of mine had a 2002 Honda that was ULEZ compliant. In particular terms, ULEZ is mainly aimed at pre-Euro 6 Diesel cars and their NOx and PM emissions.

Indeed different goalposts.

I really don’t understand the way that cars are designated clean or dirty.

I could be wrong but aren’t some diesels cheap on road tax because they’re clean but they’re not Euro 6?

Yes there are plenty of pre euro 6 diesels with £20 a year road tax. Notably all the VAG cars fitted with the 1.6 tdi engine which came out a decade ago, well before euro 6 came in..

But those cars which are clean cannot be used inside the ULEZ?

According to the road tax people the cars are clean but Kahn doesn’t agree??
Mind boggling.

My old insignia was zero rfl therefore very clean, but only euro 5 so not compliant for ulez!

VED is based on CO2 emissions, which are harmful to the environment (because CO2 is a greenhouse gas), but it's not harmful to humans who breath it.

ULEZ is based on NOx and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions, that are not harmful to the planet (though in high concentration NOx can harm vegetation), but are very harmful to humans.

Euro 6 stipulated a minimum emission levels for NOx and PM. However, getting Diesel engines to lower emissions to Euro 6 level proved challenging, and required complex after- treatment system (AdBlue) which is one reason why modern Euto 6 Diesel engines have so many issues that can be expensive to fix.

My Lotus Elise S1 is apparently ULEZ compliant but not recognised as such by TFL. There is a process by which the manufacturer can confirm the NO2 emissions and this gain exemption, but a letter from Lotus costs £100 and TFL only re-rate the cars on an individual basis. So even though some other Elise owners have shown their cars to be ULEZ compliant, all other Elise owners have to go through the same process individually or pay the fines 😢

My old boss bought a the C230K variant of the coupe - nice enough inside, build quality and materials etc. But when the exterior looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder, the only benefit of the 272hp is to get out of the way quick before too many people see it.....

Get a 209 CLK500 , Superb m113 v8 with basic running gear very lazy drive but will shift if you use all the rpm , the MPG is not so terrifying either for what they are.

My cab drives very similar to a E but with C running gear great combo
