Fitted paddles in place of the OEM buttons to my E55, this week, here's a couple of photos of the finished product. I'm not particularly hands on, but it was pretty painless, followed dvb247 linked instructions, and with additional help/advice from Alps. I did have local MB remove and replace the wheel, (£85), paddles cost £112, and took me about 4 hours, albeit I found that I did not have to swap over the internal switch printed circuit boards, as advised by Alps regarding after 04 models, and also tests I took which in my mind confirmed Alps advice, only had to cut the leads to new and old and resoldered the old button plugs back onto the new paddle leads, so I could plug into the existing steering wheel wiring harness. The worst thing for me was assessing the length of the fixing screw to the new paddles through the steering wheel, but sorted it by trial and error. Even local MB, were very interested in this fitment. I do have a couple of tips, will try to post a fitment post later this weekend.

Looks like a nice job. I fancy paddles, but not sure it would be right on 220CDi!! Let us know how you get on driving it.

Well done......I like your steering wheel as well.
Is it a DTM one?

nice job Ricky, looks the nuts.

for the plugs, you could have just slid the pins out and swapped plastic housings, but not a biggie.

Popped into goodwood to see what was going on this morning, and on route had a little play with my new paddles, I like them.
Just to answer a couple of queries, brought the steering wheel last year from DCT motorsports, in the USA, this wheel is actually a stock OEM W211 E55 steering wheel, altered to create the flat bottom section, and the grips and wheel thickened and recovered as required/specified by the client, IE: me. Cost was $800 plus an extra $400 as a deposit for returning the original steering wheel, I choose to hang onto mine, so it cost me $1200, plus a little bit of import duty. Guy I dealt with was a chap called Ivan, very good keeping intouch, just a bit of grief when it arrived in England, customs held it for two weeks. I am sure theyed do other models though.
In regards to Alps point, yes I did dismantle both sets of plugs, to try and do what you have point out, but could,nt seem to get the new lead pins into the old plugs, albeit both sets of pins looked the same, prehaps I did,nt try hard enough, but got to say thanks for your help and advice, it was appreciated.
