Missed a £2k "W" E430 Estate at the weekend.

2 owner vehicle that had been meticilously maintained.

Am I mad wanting one?

I know of one other locally that I might 'cold call'.

Rust is the big killer obviously but are they ok otherwise??

Course you aren't mad .... V8 soundtrack , what more is there to say !

Engines are bombproof , and if it rusts away to nothing in 2 years , it's cost you £20 a week.

Exactly - I've never had a V8 and I think this is the sensible way of doing it - plus I love estates.

Almost AMG sounds and performance without the AMG tax....

Trouble is , the noise is addictive ...

15mpg around town , 30 on the motorway if you drive like Miss Daisy is in the back.

Services are a bit more expensive as there are 16 plugs , but that's about it.

Other than rust, I think these cars are bombproof.

I had a w210 for 6 1/2 years and took it from 30 something (think it was 38) thousand miles to 150 something thousand miles and the only non service item required was a cat.

I would have been much better as an estate
Iwould have been much MUCH better as a 430

Interior was incredibly hard wearing (but not as 'hewn from granite' as a 124)

Rust is your only enemy.

Haven't had any electrical problems with mine.

As mentioned, rust is the enemy, but for some reason, not all W210's rust, or certainly some rust less than others.

Yep , seems fairly normal.

Something nice about a car with 6cyl+. a V8 is perfect if you can weather the fuel bills.

I love my V6 :)
