Back in Mill Hill but sometimes in Skiathos
Car
Gixxer 6, Citroen Berlingo, 911 C4S, Dacia Duster and lots of bicycles.
Just completed a quick blast from Cheshire down to Milton Keynes in our 'refreshed' w202.The work that Ian did was brilliant and makes a real difference. However when I hit about 80-85 mph there is a hint of wobble in the car.Should I put this down to the car being loaded up with gear plus a roofbox, crap surfaces and a 12 year old car or is it worth a trip to Kwik-Fit tommorrow just to check.I checked the tyre pressures yesterday.
PS Got the new style key for the car today-very nice

MOT,new rear springs,service,air-con re-gas,and something to do with the wheel bearings.Ian said it may be something to do with the tyres. It is nothing too serious but I thought the wheels may need balancing.

I would not use quickfit to balance wheels, there are more complaints here about them than for anyone else

Before Ian looked at it,it was bloody awful. Now it is super.Maybe I am being a little bit too fussy.

If all the car shakes a little it will be the rear tyres, if you feel it in the steering it is the front, not forgeting that the propshaft could cause it too if felt throughout the car

Or propshaft bearing, but Ian would normally know to look for that.

Maybe I will grin and bear it.My drive to Skiathos won't be a fast one and once I am there the car won't travel over 50 mph (island is too small) for at least the next 6 months anyway.

The last place in the world I would take my car for balancing is Kwickfit !!!! take it anywhere but there !!!

By 'A gentle wobble' are we talking about a vibration or just swaying and undulations?

If the latter then it's possibly the dampers are shot. This is bourne out by the springs needing changing, which will be more noticeable when the car is loaded with the roofbars on as well.

I had this car mot'd before Darrell collected it. So that cuts out suspension problems (IMHO). I checked out the steering damper, wheel bearings, disks (new pads fitted) and ARB bushes. I was told that previous to his trip to my place he had new tyres placed on the front wheels. They are a little noisy and I pointed this out to Darrell.

I don't think you need justify yourself Ian :)
Thanks Rob, just stating facts for the questions that may be forthcoming.
