Walked out of the hotel this morning to the taxi rank and got an unexpected Taxi (in Warsaw)

Took a couple of quick shots with the crappy Blackberry as was running late and traffic was bad

Lets see if you can guess it

Dash, with added Becker, MB pop up DVD screen

And taxi as he left the compound (in a rush)

It had 247,000km on the clock, was immaculate inside, drove like a car with 10% of the km’s on it.
With the sunroof open, it was (for me) an unique ride

How he makes any money as a taxi I will never know

PS it was a 1999 (he told me) 600 V12

Apparently he doesn’t drink, cause it does:p

PPS pity I didn’t get more photos but I was on the phone for most of the journey

I doubt it - I don't know if matters are that advanced here

And - how would a leggy V12 react to LPG?

Probably just breaks even on fuel, just...

On the way back to the hotel (in an E class) we chugged alongside a white CLS63 AMG Badged (Big AMG wheels, quad exhausts, very posh interior, so assuming not an imposter)

Strange, but it didn't look loved (stinking mucky) with a gert big CB antenna on the boot (not a good look)

Odd to spend, what, £70,000 (PLN 300,000) and not want to take care of it.

Back to my merc tomorrow:D

If I got to drive around in THAT all day , I wouldn't care if I made money or not !

Hello you asked how he makes money?

I thought the only way to make it at least semi ok on fuel would be LPG?

17-20 mpg would equal 30 / 35 on LPG

Round chester theres a local comapny using S type Jags, 7 Series Bm's and E320's as taxis and ALL run on LPG?

Given it has a 6.0 v12 I doubt it will notice the difference swanning round on LPG or petrol?

Just a thought? LPG isn't that new?

Fair point - and I suppose it must be the only way he could make a living out of it.
In the traffic here, you could probably power it with a few batteries and not notice - rush hour here is rubbish, it takes forever to get anywhere!

Although LPG is cheaper it burns faster than petrol so although there is a saving it is not as much as you'd think.

If you are clocking up the miles though, the saving then becomes worthwhile. ;)

Daft thing is, city centre cars/taxi's limo's dont though

This chap today took over half an hour to do 8km!

Without Airport runs etc, that car must have had a more statesman like past (in Poland 13 years ago, possible government car for long trips?) to amass 247k km

I asked a Black cab a couple of weeks back about annual and its under 30,000 a year - cause they spen so long sat in queues

Then if you are, do it in a (very) classy Merc with style and DVD Becker:rock:

And you thought all the extra kit was for you. :D

Lovely Motor.

Whats the price of fuel in russia?

It was Poland and I think about the same as here glancing at a foreccourt as we drove past - including LPG which I did see at a garage right next to the airport

As the car is nothing like brand new, it has done virtually all of it's deprecating. Yes it will drink a bit! and maybe cost a little to repair, but it will be nothing like the annual hit he would face running a new S.
How do I know?

Lots of LPG cars in Poland. Regular arguments at Dutch filling stations cos the filler point is different and the Dutch refuse to lend out the adaptor cos it often disappears
