A140 dash lights and start issues

Hi, got a 2001 A140 that has started to play up in that it is intermittently starting,, 1 day no problem then won't start for days! Not too sure on dash lights either (only had short while) when ignition is turned all light come on (which I think is right, but none go off when on position 3?? Is this right or should most go off after a few seconds?? Never noticed till going to try start the car. Thankyou in advance

there is an ignition switch that clips onto the back of the ignition barrel.

These wear out over time and quite easy to change - they cost about £20

ive done lots of them - dont let anybody tell you its the starter, its a great money earner for an easy fix.

That will be the starter motor or the starter relay, ignition switches pack up and only show the srs light and no ignition generally.

Hi, can't understand it just being starter if all dash lights are staying on with key at position 3, only light that goes off was seatbelt light which isn't belted up ??
