We own the above vehicle, purchased from car select Jan 06.
In May 06 service b interval popped up, car had done 3,000 miles, so contacted MB garage, they said they would have a look at, I queried age and mileage and was told it was set by computer, they charged me for an oil change.

Anyway car has done 6,070 miles now so more 3k in two years, as you can tell it doesn’t get used often now, anyway thought I’d better start it up, and now get error message saying its 28 days overdue D service.

What sort of cost should it be and what should they be doing at this D service… as car has only done 6,070 miles, but of course 2 ½ yrs old.
What happened to A then B then C services etc

Thanks in advance

The car will expect to be serviced at approx 12k depending on usage or at the most two years since the last service. The quality of the oil and other servicable items will deteriorate due to time as well as mileage or usage. It is the passage of time that has taken the service beyond the other types to D.

Not wanting to sound patronising but there is an easy way to work out what has to be done and how much it will cost: call a stealership and ask them! Ultimately if it is going to go to a stealership for this work then only they will have the true answer.

From memory I paid just under £300 for the D service to my SLK. Granted, different cars but as Shude says, some consumables deteriorate with age like oil etc.

On mine, which is a weekend/low mileage car like yours, they didnt change the air filter nor the pollen filters and some other stuff was left alone but they did change the oil & brake fluid and some other odds and ends + about 1.5 hours labour.

Again, quoting Shude, the actual mechanical needs for the car, (and therefore costs), only become appparent when the car gets plugged into the workshop computer. I'd say allow £300/£400 but you may be pleasantly surprised at the time of invoice.

Portzy.

Do shop around - and ask for a discount - you'd be surprised at the variation in price that's available.
