Hi All

Have just purchased a broken A180 (2016) 1.5 diesel in lovely Elbaite green at a really sensible price due to the turbo properly given out. The car, although immaculate, has covered pretty high miles (158k) being a company car and with the engine unknown I'm looking at getting the engine rebuilt and a refurbed turbo installed. Any recommendations for a reputable engine rebuilder in Suffolk, Norfolk or Cambs at sensible money ? I could change just the turbo, give it a service and hopefully it might all be ok but don't want to take the risk of spending £400+ only to find out there's debris in the engine which would then mess up the reconditioned turbo meaning I'd have to start all over again ! A used low mileage engine might be an option but could be full of unknowns. Appreciate any recommendations for a rebuilder in East Anglia (I'm located Bury St Edmunds)

Hello and welcome .Have you inspected the turbocharger to see if the impeller has exploded and been sucked into the engine ? Remove and inspect the oil filter , remove the sump (if possible).

I wish you luck but I must say the phrase 'can of worms' come to mind. Only you can decide how much you want to spend on this car.

Hi Pete.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yeah the impeller has exploded. Properly buggered ! You can pull it out with your fingers. Doesn't appear to be any parts in the oil though. Don't think I want to take the change just replacing the turbo. Will swap/recon the engine given its miles. Can afford to throw £2500 at it but don't want to go any more really

Have you tried running the engine with the turbo compressor side disconnected?
