A35 front and rear brake discs

Hi,

After feeling shudder in my steering wheel after braking from motorway speeds I finally got to an MB garage today.

They said the front drive side disc must be replaced and the rear driver side disc was an advisory.

The car has done just under 20,000 miles of reasonable driving (no tracks/not too spirited very often) and not had the discs replaced before. Is 20k early for discs and is it weird that one side of the car has disc issues, but the other side is fine?

Furthermore, when the car was serviced 6 months / 6,000 miles ago, there were no issues with any of the discs per the health check report.

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated!

So basically you need 4 new discs and pads.

I would be going to an independant to avoid MB tax

^^ +1. Use an indy. The labour rates are approximately half that of a main dealer. An indy will use the same parts as the main dealer.
If you are anywhere near NW London, Terry at Wayne Gates in Harrow comes highly recommended. Not used him myself though as I have much closer ones.
