HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE BIG 4WD CARS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN OFFERED WHAT I SEE AS GOOD DEAL OR IS IT ?

ITS AT 1999 ON V ML320 AUTO WITH LUX PACK AND SIDE CHROME BARS IT HAS DONE 107.000 MILES WITH 4 OWNERS IT HAS FULL MERCEDES HISTORY AND 10 MTHS MOT I CAN BUY IT FOR 3800 IT SEEMS GOOD VALUE TO ME AND DRIVES LOVELY ARE THESE CARS AS BAD AS THE REVIEWS FROM TOP GEAR AND OTHER SITES THOUGHT I WOULD ASK SOME REAL PEOPLE THEIR VIEWS PLEASE HELP I HAVE A WEEK TO DECIDE

be very carful had one had more trouble with it than all my cars put together....so may be to your answer..i would recomend the series(2 i think )with the indicators in the door mirrors...chack out the thread on worst cars for my trouble with my ml320

Hi and welcome!

Generally speaking the pre-2001 model was rushed out and was not up to scratch. Some have been lucky and had few problems, but many have vowed never to own one. The post 2001 version (recogisable by the indicators in the mirrors) are much better built. All chew through brakes and enjoy a drink, but the latter the better for build quality. Tempting price..but for a reason!

£3800?? sounds like some sort of a con to me as the cheapest ML320 i have ever seen has been above 6K..

Alan....may be a bargain, get it checked out by somebody who knows. I owned a 1999 ML320 a few years ago....worst Mercedes I ever owned for
£20k when I bought it, but a bargain now if in good nick.

I too have heared bad reports about pre face lifted ones. At £3800 it does seem very cheap? I would strongly recommend an AA or RAC type check and a HPI report (currently £5 from RAC).

I guess a facelifted one will be out of your budget as I would think cheapest around 10K.

Have to say I love mine, great bus and having had most mercs in the family at some point don't know why people seem to think badly of them. The build quality is as good as my dads E class estate and even the SL.

Nice cars, eat brakes and have very poor on road suspension.
Expect 18-22mpg.
£500 to changed the brakes and £180 per tyre.

I agree the fuel probably right, I'm getting 25 on average out of a ML350, the brakes seem high is that a stealer price? and tyres seem very high where are they from?

Either way wouldn't the above be similar to comparable cars of similar value?
