Mercedes 2006 C200 coupe
Hello there.

I have seen a 06 car on a dealers forecourt and am quite taken. Just thought i'd ask you fellow Mercedes owners if there is anything i should look out for. It has a FSH and all looks clean and goes well but somebody told me to ask the dealer to make sure there is two keys as copies are £200+ and only available from MB dealers.

Any other little things that are worth knowing?

Cheers

06 will be a facelifted model with a fully gavanised body - so no problems there.
FSH is good - as it should be on a car less than 5 years old.
Is the dealer MB or independant?
Hopefully it will only have 1 previous owner and about 10-12k miles per year.
Decent newish tyres and a long MOT are all good things.
As are a few toys like leather seats, COMAND, parking sensors and auto rain wipers.
Specially COMAND.

Maybe not relevant to you, but when I had my C180K sport coupe, within a few weeks I had to have some front suspension work done! Worth checking that there's no wheel wobble or body shaking at around 50mph which mine suffered with until Ipswich sorted it out (front bushes and new rear wheels!). Oh yes and if you have the pano roof check that it doesn't rattle. But, a rattle at the rear can also be the parcel shelf rattling on it's stays - simple cure - just stick some rubber pads to the edge of the shelf! :)

Other than that, good car! :)

Just make sure its runs smoothly, those engines have two common issues:
- Exhaust Valves burn out giving a misfire when warm
- Thin rubber pipe under air filter presihes resulting in rough running.

Cheers for replies, it's a 06 model. done 80k but the history and receipts all look good. fair price too from the independent dealer. The spare key is not there so told them i want one and some new tyres on the front which aren't great.

I did try a 180K down in wiltshire at the weekend. from an independent dealer but it was an ex lease car. loads of scratches and dents, damaged head lining, door self all kicked in etc...after the test drive, there was this awful burning type smell too. the dealer told me it was where the car had been standing a while, i wasn't really having that.
