Hi all

First time poster.

I have bought an old school 1994 C180 as a work hack. Its very tidy generally just a few small things to make it a really nice nostalgic 90's Merc.

The one main issue though is the ABS light is on and so does not work. The speedo is also not working (linked issue I guess) and the far left LCD screen is also not working. (Assume its for outside temp?)

I have done some googling and come up with a few possibilities but though I would post a pic of what I see here and maybe someone can narrow the field of thought?

O also the miles are not going up if that makes any odds? I assume its all linked to one system or sensor hopefully.

Thanks in advance and ill post some more pics and info on the introduction forum when I can

PHOTOBUCKET UPLOAD NOT WORKING CURRENTLY :fail

Managed to attach a couple of pics as click links. Hope that works

Hi,
You really need to get the car plugged into a diagnostic, you are most likely correct regarding the speedo and the ABS light.
IMO it is almost certainly a faulty speed/ABS Sensor.
I seem to recall that the speedo signal comes from one of the front ABS sensors (on facelift car any way), which one I am not 100% but THINK its the driver's side.
Be aware that your year 202 will have only three ABS Sensors one each for the front wheels and one actually fitted in the diff, for the rear wheels.

The guy I bought it from took it to a diagnostic Merc indy place and had it plugged in but apparently there computer did not help. They even phoned the people who sold them the machine to query why it was not working correctly and got no further so he was told its either this this or this and we won't know until we start swapping bits out.

Rather than opening a cash can of worms he offered me the car at £450 less than the agreed price as is so I at least have that extra cash to throw at it but I would rather replace the more obvious thing first if the computer can't help rather than just say lets do everything and hope for the best

I did first motorway run in it yesterday and my god does it need tracking and new tyres lol.. The tyres are all different on every corner and are really really crap brands and its pulling to the left quite a bit so I think ill need a new set of decent rubber and then tracking before I do motorways again. Family car to work today instead I think.

Other than that needs an electric ariel and thats it hopefully. It an old car so I expect some work and cost and it will be really nice to get it back to proper spec again.
