ABS lights warning but brakes are fine.

As the title says. Today I had the warning lights come on indicating a problem with the braking systems but when I stopped the car, turned it off then back on again it all went away without any repeat. I realise this isn't perhaps the best way to sort problems but I have checked the brakes and know them to be ok (in the sense that the pads and discs are fine).

Is this problem something more serious and 'internal' or is it just a sensor? I'm saying 'just a sensor' when this could itself be a major problem of course.

Any ideas people? Thanks.

Favourite is always the brake light switch first as its so cheap and easy to replace.
