Ok, apologies in advance, as you all know my computer know-how is minimal..... witness my destruction of Ians site .....

Now, i would like to set up a website, i have checked to see it is available, and it is ....

Now i was thinking of going with www.123-reg.co.uk , and looking at their hompage i think i will have to register (for £2.59 a year) and then use the build thing (for £1.59 a month) which is ok , but do i then need to have their 'Host' package for another £1.59 a month ? or is it hosted already as part of the other two packages ?

Also, If i click on the build box, it gives me three options, Starter , Plus and Pro, now i realsie i won't need 'Pro' but the starter package doesn't seem to offer any way of uploading photos from what i can see ? or am i wrong ?

Could one of you internet gurus advise on this please ? or if anyone knows a better site , but that is easy to work with please let me know, the only reason i chose 123 was it looked simple to use ....

Many thanks

H

No-one has any advice ?

I've only ever used 123 for registering domain names, and found them to be trouble-free and well priced - I'd happily recommend them.

I would check with your ISP to see if you have any 'free' webspace included in your Internet charge - lots offer it. They may not be too keen if it's for big business but for personal web pages, hobbies, clubs, and start-ups it's ideal. Check the small print though.

To build your website, you could use one of the tools like 123 offer, or have a go with some free software - often bundled with magazine. Many of the expensive packages like Dreamweaver can be downloaded with a 30 day free trial, but may be a little to complex for your needs that said. I used an early version to build some websites. Required a little patience, some interest in the final cause and a bucket load of trial and error!! If you can use the format buttons when posting on here, you're well on your way!!

Not looked into it but Google Page Creator has got to be worth a look - need a Google Mail account I believe. Take a look here: https://www.google.com/accounts/Ser...nue=http://pages.google.com/&ltmpl=yessignups

anyone got a gmail invite ?

I've been going through this recently and prefer to use my own web building software to be independant.
If you look around you could learn html and use notepad or just use a publishing package then save as webpage.

If you want to use a tied sitebuilder then the Bluevoda one is very easy to use and is pretty functional.

I am no expert though in this field and I'm sure others will know more.
