Car
e250 cgi 13plate
Picked up my brand new W212 last Saturday. Went to use it Sunday morning and the Dash did'nt work I then called out mercedes who came and rebooted a few things and got it working again. Next morning came to use it same fault this time they towed the car away and gave me a hire car. They ordered a new instrument panel which they fitted on Thursday and I got my car back on the morning I then went to drive home 4 hours later and it did'nt work again for about 10 seconds I had nothing displayed again went to drive it and it sparked into life but with tyre flat warnings and reverse camera warnings etc. I took it straight back to mercedes who have got the car and will look at it again on Tuesday.

My question is does anyone know if I can demand a different car.

Go to dealership and ask politely to speak with the Dealer Principal. Accept nobody else if offered unless it's the original salesperson.

Explain your issues, hassles and general feeling of discontent that such an expensive car is proving to be faulty on multiple occasions within the first week of ownership and the issue is not resolved.

Ask THEM what THEY are going to do to sort the car, and you, out properly.

Don't get angry, don't make demands. The thing a dealership fears most is a calm customer with a valid complaint. They've not got a clue how to placate you if you are calm.

ooops i kind of got mad the third time. I will take your advice next time. Cheers for you advice

You can reject the car but you have to give the dealer three attempts to fix the issue. I dont know if this would be classed as the second attempt as they car wasnt at the dealer the 1st time.

Here is a response from mercedes uk.

I hope you are well and that you had a nice weekend. Following on from our recent communication regarding you E-class, Mercedes-Benz UK fully appreciates your upset and concern, however they are unwilling to exchange the vehicle as the problem was not a major component issue but rather an instrument cluster which was replaced and the problem has now been addressed.
As there is nothing technically wrong with the car now they are unwilling to support any exchange.

As a good will gesture Mercedes-Benz of Swindon will pay for your first service and because of the inconvenience please do take your wife out for a meal with wine and send me the bill and we will reimburse you.

Once again we would like to thank you for your patience and hope you are enjoying your new Mercedes-Benz

Not sure how they can say an instrument cluster is not major when you can't drive without it.

Your thoughts and advise please

Sounds to me like there's still faults there, even after replacing the instrument cluster. Give them one more chance to fix it properly, then if they haven't fixed it, start telling them that you want to reject the car.
